Welcome to this week’s Friday Feature where I chat to Claire O’Hanlon in my new blog series highlighting local businesses in our area.
Claire is honestly one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She has such an amazing attitude to life and she is a true inspiration. Having a strong business background, she worked for Dungannon Enterprise Centre for many years before establishing her own coaching business.
Claire believes that everyone deserves to achieve whatever they want in life. In her business, Claire O’Hanlon Coaching, she provides personal and business coaching as well as personal development, resilience and confidence training, workshops and merchandise. I hope you enjoy reading all about Claire, another Inspiring Business Mum …
Tell me all about Claire, the person?
I’m mummy to 2 little boys who drive me nuts but I wouldn’t be without them. I love a challenge which always sees me doing random things – like this February, I’m taking 5 days off everything and am going to spend it with strangers on a Firewalk Instructor training course!
Tell me about your business & how you got started in your current role
Basically, I believe that everybody should be able to do whatever they decide is right for them. Therefore I help people figure out what it is they want and how to achieve it through business and personal development workshops and coaching.
My background is in enterprise and communications so I run programmes, workshops and one to one sessions to help small businesses. I facilitate business strategy and team development days but I also work with individuals to develop their confidence and to help them overcome limiting beliefs to so that they can excel in life and work!
What is your favourite season & why?
Early autumn. I love how it looks in the morning and I love to sit outside just before dark with a fleece on me and a cup of tea in hand. It’s the only time of year I ever seem to do that and I always feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
What’s the last show you binge watched?
How do you take your coffee or tea?
Weak, milky tea
Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
What’s your favourite quote from a movie or book?
Make him an offer he can’t refuse – I’m a closet Godfather fan!
Are you more of a “work to live” or a “live to work” type of person?
Work to live but do something you love and you’ll never work a single day!
Have you ever had a nickname? If yes, what was it & why?
My mum used to call me footless Annie because I fell all the time
What are you more proud of in the last year?
My children. They have a lot to deal with and they never ever complain. Business wise, it’s probably getting the license for a TEDx Cookstown event so I can bring the TEDx platform to rural mid Ulster
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be & why?
I always wanted to live in America when I was younger and applied to the Green card lottery 3 times. Now I just want to live wherever the people who love me are!
Do you believe in 2nd chances?
What’s the most unusual place you’ve fallen asleep?
I’m not one who just falls asleep so maybe on the sand in a Bedouin tent with no floor in the middle of the Sahara desert (I had a sleeping bag lol)
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Caution.. appears timid but has a tendency to explode with very little notice!
